Perfect Details: Couture Jewelry & Accessories

Looking ahead to 2013

We just returned from the New York Couture bridal show and, speaking for myself, this is the most excited I have been about market in years! We have found so many fantastic items from an array of designers, over 400 new pieces of jewelry, hair accessories, headpieces and a few handbags too.  We’ll be receiving these items over the next 4-5 months. Every month starting in November and going through March we will be getting new groups from Erin Cole, Debra Moreland for Paris, Haute Bride, Cheryl King Couture, Margaret Rowe as well as smaller groups from Badgley Mischka, Christina Garcia, Sara Gabriel and a few new designers we will be introducing…so stay tuned. What we’re excited about:

Look out for styles similar to these earrings.

Deco!  Not a lot but we were able to find some fantastic pieces… a la  Great Gatsby and the roaring ’20s (which you may already know we love to turn to for style inspiration).

Rose Gold a refreshing look from Haute Bride that still has her infamous bling but so refreshing.  Rose gold and pale pinks add a touch of color, vintage, romance.

From Paris by Debra Moreland

Vintage creations from Paris by Debra Moreland, ranging from sweet romantic delicate roses, bohemian chic with silver leaves, crystals & pearls, amazing vintage chandeliers she is so well known for, and jewels and hair pieces featuring clusters of intricately woven tiny pearls in hair combs, headpieces and fabulous button earrings – which will be a big fashion trend for spring/summer 2013.

Erin Cole
Clever couture – just the most amazing creative earrings, necklaces & hair jewelry from Erin Cole.  This collection reaches a new level for her.  I don’t think she can ever out do this collection. Sparkle, glamour as you have never seen.  It is all so beyond pretty, all one can do is look at it or shall I say stare at it in amazement and just enjoy how truly beautiful & unique it is.

The beloved cuff… soon with coordinated earrings.

And Margaret Rowe has introduced an earring to match the much talked about cuff you have seen from us on every blog and everyone’s pinterest page.  Stay tuned for this and of course we’ll have new amazing cuffs – no one creates wrist bling as Margaret does and some fabulous deco earrings.

We loved Cheryl King.  Big Bling! Big! Of course throw some pearls in, too – we’re going to be bringing in a new collection every month from this designer.

We’re also super excited to introduce Stephanie Browne Australia to our collection. She’s got gorgeous art deco inspired pieces.

Be sure to keep an eye out for updates from us on Facebook and Twitter over the next few months so you don’t miss out on the arrival of these elegant, eclectic pieces.

As always there is no clear message on what is the trend in gowns.  There are designers with a clear message on what they think is fresh and new for the upcoming bridal year (like Monique Lhuillier in this interview), but overall everyone has a gown in their line that covers whatever look you desire. Ball gowns?… Yes! Huge tulle skirts?… Yes! Huge tulle skirts with floral appliques, beading etc?… Yes! Chic sheaths, classic a lines?… Yes and yes! What was new?

  • Sleeves– cap, short, long in lace, sheer organza with beautiful and sometimes overdone beadwork–which is also seen in necklines.
  • Long column silhouettes.
  • Some dresses are the gown and your jewelry in one
  • But simple, beautifully tailored and crafted gowns reflecting beautiful drape, pleating, and folds are there as well.

Here are some of our favorite gowns from various 2013 collections that we think are beautiful examples of this year’s trends:

Lots of lace this year, including this Marchesa dress’s beautiful overlay, bodice inset, and the much-seen sleeves.

Wow! This Marchesa dress is what we’re talking about with the intricately beaded organza insets. Expect to see a lot of dresses with these beading details in the coming months, as well as the long column look.

Also from Marchesa, we adore the full tulle skirt of this dress and beaded bodice. A feminine, stand out gown.

You’ll be seeing lots of sleeves this year, including cap sleeves like on this Modern Trousseau dress.

Lots of peplums popping up this season as well, as seen in this Christos dress.

As always, though, well cut and draped gowns like this one from Monique Lhuillier more than hold their own.
