COLOR

Cover-ups to coats, they do not have to be white. Any color you feel beautiful wearing is fine. When shopping for an outerwear piece, inquire if the fabric will dye well. A white wool cape would be wonderful for a winter wedding in Chicago, and if it can be dyed navy or black afterwards you get a bonus of wearing it again for every day use.

BRIDAL WRAPS AND SHAWLS

They're perfect to cover-up bare shoulders and in heavier fabric weights can add just enough warmth. For summer weddings where one must cover their shoulders during the ceremony considers an organza wrap or an embroidered organza shawl. A silk wedding shawl is also a nice gift for your bridesmaids, especially if it is in a neutral color they can wear again for special occasions.

CAPES

Hooded or non-hooded capes offer coverage and warmth when chosen in wool or other winter weight fabrics. Special trims, such as fur, can be added for a defining detail as well as an air of sophistication.

FURS

A Faux or real fur, bridal shawl, caplet or short jacket is fashionable, glamorous and pure luxury. In ivory or black it can be worn again too.

RAINCOATS

Plastic raincoats are available in a variety of lengths, even long enough to cover a train.
