Wedding Cakes. Our Favorites.

Wedding cakes. Incredible works of art that define the décor of your wedding. Today’s wedding cakes are so stunning, that in many cases they are a close second place to the bride herself. Inspired by the theme of the wedding, the bride’s gown, and even the bride’s wedding shoes (which for the shoe obscessed is completely understandable) today’s wedding cakes speak volumes to the talented cake artists that create them.

For myself, I have always been inspired by wedding cakes. The designs, color combinations and themes provided a range of ideas for me when I used to design ring pillows and wedding guest books. I used to thumb through Martha Stewart Weddings in awe of the photography and creations, but now I have Pinterest!  Like everyone else, I can’t resist pinning my favorite wedding ideas and of course these incredible cakes are no exception.  The cake designers I have found are so creative, and have a fantastic sense of color, style and in many cases fun.  So today I’m sharing my favorite finds from our Cakes! pinterest board.  I grouped the cakes into a couple of my favorite styles, but I have to confess, it was a challenge to narrow down my selection.  If you are hungry or having a sugar craving, you may want to bookmark this post and read it another time.  Enjoy!

The traditional white wedding cake.  Does this still exist?  These beauties below certainly redefine classic.

I love the modern edge of the cake on the left that is created with a Georgia O'Keeffe flower, and the pearls add a touch of tradition. The cake on the right must have drawn it's inspiration from the many blush gowns with massive ruffle skirts that have been so on trend.

Gorgeous works of art. Stunning details, especially the bouquet on the left. And, I can't resist the adorable brooch bows that add the finishing touch to the cake on the right.

Black & white done with vintage flair! Love the deco chandelier pattern on the right. The stripes and pink rosettes suggest a French boutique.

Speaking of vintage…with lace gowns and vintage bridal jewelry being designers favorites for 2015, brides walking down the aisle in 2016 will definitely want to take a look at these.

Vintage French inspiration. I spot a bit of deco inspiration in the blush cake and the bird cage cake is to die for.

The fall bouquet combined with the frosting pattern creates such a pretty cake for a vintage inspired wedding in October. The cake on the right is one of my favorites. The pearls. The flowers...."swoon".

Love these cakes for fall and winter weddings.

Two fall cakes. Very different. Classic where details set the mood and a unique design where the frosting looks like logs for the fireplace and the color of the decorations is exquisite.
