Oscar de la Renta Bridal 2013 Collection

It doesn’t come at much surprise that the 2013 Collection (which you can check out in all it’s optically delicious glory over at Wedding Chicks) is positively awe and envy-inspiring.

The last time I saw pastel colors used for a formal dress was my mother’s prom dress from 1976. A periwinkle, floor-length, haltered chiffon dress, trimmed with delicate lace daisies. Certainly dated, but demurely feminine and lovely.

“Dated” is the farthest word from how you can describe this collection. Oscar de la Renta manages to fold the classic, pale femininity of yesteryear fashion perfectly into modern silhouettes. It’s hard to pick favorites, but we especially love these dresses, which lend themselves so nicely to elegant embellishment:

Drop-dead gorgeous detailing with the flower embroidery and attention-demanding veil, we cannot pry our eyes away!
A dress this exceptionally beautiful deserves amazing accessories. Here are some that we think would complement it fabulously:
These Badgley Mischka Zandra White heels have pretty tulle details and a sweet bow that complements this look in such a lovely way.
Charming vintage-inspired Benjamin Adams Winslet Peep Toe with Ornament is not only show-stopping, they’re dyable for use after the wedding.
Opting for comfort doesn’t mean you have to settle for looking too casual. These Badgley Mischka Sindee flats have lovely beading while keeping you on the ground–something to keep in mind if your wedding is outdoors.
Big and bold, these Paris Bridal In the Sweet earrings remind us of vintage Gatsby glamor, perfect for channeling your inner Daisy Buchanan.
Show off your elegant neck with these gorgeous, 3″ long Erin Cole Large Fan Drop Chandelier Earrings.
These Maragaret Rowe Deco Drama Cleo Quintet earrings are as dramatic as they are beautiful, adding just a bit of an edge to your look.
Not all of us are traditional white kind of ladies. Fortunately, color on the bride is totally in. From Vera Wang’s rich reds to de la Renta’s pastels, you are no longer confined to various shades of white.
Perhaps the natural response to fashion’s recently beloved extra-bold colors, pastels have been popping up all over the runways, and lend themselves so well to this jaw dropping gown. We love these trend-forward pieces:
If you love pastels, you have to check out all of Badgley Mischka’s current offerings, many of which are currently on sale. We love these Goodie Sky Blue “Tiffany Blue” pumps, and have made no secret of it.
The soft pink and delicate rhinestone crystal embellishments of Badgley Mischka’s Giselle Rose wedges make these practical wedges look anything but mundane.
We adore the soft feminine pink and tule bow on these Badgley Mischka Zandra Blush heels. Perfectly trend forward while classically appropriate.
Get lost in swirling depths of gold with these Haute Bride Golden Shadows Post Earrings
Color seems to burst out of these Sorrelli Open Oval Crystal Earrings. Be sure to check out the rest of the Sorrelli Running Water Collection, which has some amazing colored jewels.
It only seems fitting to pair soft pastels with beautiful flowers. Made of Swarovski crystal this Margaret Rowe True Celebrity Peony bracelet is a sparkling final touch.
These beautiful Laura Jayne Petite Sophia Flower Hairpins can be dyed to the color of your choice to perfectly compliment your dress.
Be sure to check out the other head turning dresses in de la Renta’s collection. Such a fresh, beautiful take on vintage fashion, we’d wager this trend will by for some time to come.
